The Guerrilla Composers Guild is joining forces with Areon Flutes to explore, examine, and exponentially expand the repertoire for three flutes at the Center for New Music in March of 2016.

(Free) online application:

Areon Flutes has been a staple of the Bay Area creative music scene for over 10 years. Noted for innovative programming and collaborations that incorporate all members of the flute family, the group has engaged audiences across the country with works that utilize unique staging, theatrics, and choreography. Members Jill Heinke, Kassey Plaha, Sasha Launer and their numerous guest artists have received high praise for their remarkable performances. In 2008, the group was awarded the Bronze Medal at the prestigious and internationally recognized Fischoff Chamber Music Competition in Notre Dame, Indiana – the first time in the competition’s 35-year history that a flute chamber music ensemble reached this elite position.

For this concert, four composers be selected. Each composer will write a new 8-12 minute work specifically for Areon Flutes (3 performers with optional doublings: c flute/picc, c/alto, c/bass) in an intensely collaborative series of workshops, culminating in an adventurous evening of new music.

If you are a composer and this sounds like your dream project then we would love to hear from you. Apply by [August 15], and our newest collaborators will be announced on [September 1st.]
